Today on the podcast is one of the most accomplished NCAA runners of all-time (and he's not done yet!), Joe Waskom.
If you're not familiar with Joe, he boasts an impressive track and field career highlighted by his numerous achievements. In 2023, he secured the Silver Medal at the U.S. Outdoor Championships and earned the title of NCAA Runner-Up at 1,500-Meters. His dedication to the sport has earned him multiple recognitions, including 2023 All-America First Team honors for both the 1,500m outdoor, the Mile, and Distance Medley Relay indoor events. He was the 2022 NCAA Champion at 1,500-Meters and the 2022 Pac-12 1,500m Champion. Waskom's personal records include a blazing 3:34.64 in the 1,500m, and a 3:51.90 school record in the Mile. He's made his mark not only athletically but also academically, earning a spot on the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team multiple times and receiving Pac-12 Spring Academic Honor Roll distinctions. Joe's commitment to excellence extends beyond the track, making him a well-rounded student-athlete.
In today's conversation, Joe and I have a wide-ranging conversation on all things his career and successful past few years. We dive into his upbringing in the sport all the way up to his most recent performance at the 2023 World Track & Field Championships.
