This week on #TubtaNabadda, we feature speakers from a civil society symposium, organised recently in Mogadishu by the Somali Women and Child Care Association (SWCCA), with UN support.
The participants in the symposium – human rights defenders, journalists, parliamentarians and academics – discussed ways of expanding a pluralistic civic environment in Somalia with the goal of building trust between the state and citizens.
Among the issues raised was the need for civil society groups to keep playing an important role in ensuring a better human rights situation in Somalia.
The programme is presented in Somali by Ali Gutale and Fathi Mohamed.
