085 Chris Schukei held a pile of raw meat in the park for hours and lived to tell about it
Chris Schukei served as the music coordinator and was a key member of Paul Shaffer's staff from 1993 until 2003. After that he moved back to where he grew up in Nebraska, yet still worked for Late Show remotely, making sure musical acts were organized and properly papered until the show's end in 2015. Chris has an excitable personality, so Lord knows Mike was especially energized for this one as well. The two have a splendid conversation spanning how Chris ended up in New York and how he got the opportunity to work for David Letterman and company, and his entire run.
This is a conversation that has many facets; exploring memories of some of the fantastic musical moments on the show, reminiscence of many of the comedy bits Chris found himself featured in, and even some of the behind the scenes workings of the administration of how musical acts were booked and paid.
