Episode 31: Bill “Pink Hat” Simmons Jumps On (and back off) the Red Sox Bandwagon, Plus A Look Back at Bill’s Most Infamous Red Sox Takes From Twitter & His Sox Book, With Fitz From Pod on Lansdowne
Welome to the latest episode! Bill Simmons has been tweeting about the Red Sox recently for the first time since April, so we had to bring on some Boston baseball & Bill fans to talk about it. Fitz (@FitzyMoPena on Twitter) from Pod On Lansdowne (https://linktr.ee/PodOnLansdowne) answered the call, and we have a lot of fun discussing baseball and Bill. We start off with a state of the Red Sox and Bill’s current fanhood (it's not a re-apex) and then discuss some of Bill’s takes on ownership, the GM, the Betts trade, and more. We then touch on Fitz’s analysis of Boston’s trade deadline and then jump around to the rest of the MLB and predict the final few months of the season and the playoffs. We circle back around to Fitz’s interactions with Bill over the years and reread some absolutely hilarious Bill Red Sox takes from Twitter and his Red Sox book written after the 2004 win, Now I Can Die in Piece, including the origin of the “pink hat” meme that’s now been turned against him.
