Fact or fiction- Does mindfulness work? Part 1
I challenge you to explore the thought, “Does mindfulness work? Is it fact or fiction, or have we been doing this so long that this is part of our natural response? I am working on putting a presentation together where I put myself through the challenge. I will put it out when it is ready so you can see how I took the challenge.
Just Practice: In this episode, we are just going to practice. I am sharing the same practice I did with the design team at USAA. I hope you will use this as a resource to help sustain your mindfulness practice.
The Raisin Practice invites us to appreciate diversity and individuality. Each one of us is different and individual. Place no judgment on the Raisin. It’s not a good Raisin or a bad Raisin. It is just showing its fruit as it is now. The Train Practice guides us to deal with distractors. In mindfulness, we do not deny distractors or run from them. We acknowledge them and let them pass. We use our breath as our focal point. The movement of our breath is our anchor. After the body scan, Eartha guides you through a brief body scan, using awareness of the breath as the anchor and allowing distracting thoughts to pass. The final practice helps us to use the strength of our calmness and compassion of our words to bring peace to the world. The final practice is the Loving Kindness practice. Get ready to change your world today with your words of loving kindness.
