60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday: When Have You Gone Backwards to Go Forward?

Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga.

My long-time dear friend and former US Navy corpsman, Gene, is fond of emailing me wisdom packaged as a joke.

Here’s his latest: Little Johnny turns up late for school one morning. Teacher asks: Johnny, why are you late?" Johnny replies, It's snowing real hard.  Every time I took a step forward I slid back two steps. The teacher - looking puzzled - says, That makes no sense. If you slid back two steps for every one step you took forward, how did you get here? Johnny rolls his eyes and replies, I turned around and walked backwards.

Sometimes in life you have to turn around and walk backwards to get to where you’re going.

Story Prompt: Think of a time when no matter what you did you felt like you could never get ahead, make any forward momentum or gain traction until that moment when you let go and did it a different way. What happened then? Write that story!  

Practical Tip: The magic of stories is also in the sharing. If you wish share your story with someone or something.   All that matters is you have a story.
