“I am a pervert…an exhibitionist…a masturbator…and a killer.”
On this week’s episode of The Blind Rage Podcast, we take a look at the 2002 biopic DAHMER, featuring Jeremy Renner as the titular cannibal killer.
Unlike the Netflix miniseries, which glamorizes and sexualizes the story, David Jacobson’s retelling of the Jeffrey Dahmer case stays closer to the facts of the crimes, while simultaneously avoiding any unnecessary sex or violence. Renner’s portrayal is both haunting and dead-on, earning him several accolades for a film very few people saw during its initial release.
For those of you who shy away from gratuitous violence, rest assured that DAHMER doesn’t take any of the cheap shots Netflix did. Instead, it examines pertinent moments in the short life of one of America’s most notorious serial killers, and strives to show him in a manner perhaps few people have seen.
