100: Becoming Your Favorite Self: A Field Guide For Adult Children of Alcoholism, Addiction and Family Dysfunction
We've all heard about being our best, highest, or most productive selves. But what does it mean to create space for our favorite selves? In this episode, we will explore the empowering (and very revealing) experience of coming into conscious contact with what we want for ourselves, what we love about ourselves, and the story of unworthiness that separates us from living every day as our favorite selves. The world is very reactive toward change-makers, alchemists, and communicators. By taking up space as we accept and trust ourselves, we can inadvertently position ourselves in conflict with anyone who benefits from our discomfort, fear, and insecurity. We can become the scapegoat, which is a real challenge for those of us who spent so much of our lives hiding who we were or minimizing our wants and needs for fear of consequences, humiliation, or abandonment. Are we burning our lives to the ground after this episode and destroying relationships? No. We are simply taking the first steps toward our purpose, capacity, and, ultimately, our favorite selves (even if we don't know who that is yet).
