Really shifting the vocabulary away from 'meditation' and 'you can connect to spirit' and this 'universal consciousness'... all these things - which is absolutely what's happening - but to approach it more gently with people: 'Hey, let me teach you some breathing techniques that have been scientifically proven to shift brain function from the front of your brain to the back of your brain, into the theta and delta consciousness which you normally activate only while sleeping. This will allow you to process information in a more powerful way.' This is scientifically exactly what's happening when you're meditating. There is no silly, flighty-dighty-ness behind it, that is what's happening. Of course for those that are in the spiritual world, myself included, there is also a little bit of magic behind that."
