Episode 83: Expecting great things with Caryn Doerksen

It was a blessing to have Caryn Doerksen join us in the studio to share her story! This episode is coming out just a few days before Caryn's birthday (Sept. 30th) so make sure if you see her, you say Happy Birthday!  🎉🎉🎉 We are so thankful to have the whole Doerksen family a part of our church. Caryn was raised on the mission field with some of her earliest memories being in the Philippines and England. Her parents worked (and still work!) as pastors and missionaries all over the U.S. and world. Caryn recounts what it was like growing up as a third culture kid and how she caught onto living a life of service to the Lord even as a young girl. We also talked through practical ways to help support kids growing up on the mission field as it is a very unique experience. When Caryn was in high school, she began to wonder what the Lord had for her. It became stressful as she was trying to determine if she herself would become a missionary or if she should pursue nursing school. A trusted mentor encouraged her to move forward in the Lord and expect great things. This simple statement helped Caryn to think through her decision and also made her realize that ministry happens all the time - not just on the mission field. She walks us through how the Lord has worked in her and used her in the years since then. The conversation wraps up with Caryn sharing about a recent experience in Indonesia that reminded her just how big and worthy of worship our God is. You'll gain a new perspective as you hear about growing up on the mission field and you'll also be encouraged to know that God can and will use you wherever it is that He has you.
