The Delphi Murders: A Conversation About Odinism, Prison Gangs, and Human Sacrifice with The Troth
There's a lot of talk of Odinism, paganism, and prison gangs in the wake of the defense's recent Franks memorandum in the Delphi case.
Recently, we got the chance to speak with two leaders from The Troth. The Troth has been around for 35 years. It’s an educational and service organization for people who practice pre-Christian Germanic faiths. They practice an inclusive form of heathenry, meaning everyone is welcome to join!
Lauren Crow is the president and CEO of The Troth. She’s also co-host of the Heathen History Podcast, and has been featured on Harvard Divinity School’s Ministry of Ideas podcast. Jo Hunding is the director of The Troth’s In–Reach Prison Services. She has years of experience in corrections and mental health. Part of her job involves trying to counter the exclusive form of the religion put forward by white nationalist prison gangs.
We will speak about the differences between Odinism, Ásatrú (in the United States), and Heathenry. Lauren and Jo will debunk some myths, and express where they felt the memorandum painted all heathens with too broad a brush.
