In today's podcast, we dive deep into the art of consistency. I've been incredibly inspired by my husband, the true "streak master". No, he doesn't go for a morning run in the nude! Instead, every day, he embarks on a ritual of discipline and dedication. Over the years, this unwavering commitment has allowed him to master a multitude of skills, one being absolute trust in himself, and his ability to create and finish tasks (something I'm sure we all admire).
Now, wearing my ADHD hat, I admit consistency hasn'tΒ been my strength AT ALL. Often, I'd be swept away by a whirlwind of exciting ventures, forgetting the commitments I made to myself....about 3 hours after I made them.
My journey towards consistency began with setting clear intentions. I decided James and I would move to Barcelona for 6 months by May 2024. Which motivated me to practice Spanish everyday. I also decided that I was for sure going to achieve my dream of playing the fiddle in Ireland jam band, especially since Ireland is a mere flight away. To achieve these dreams, I pledged 30 minutes daily for Spanish and the fiddle, and another half-hour for my business ventures, and 1 hour for my healthy body. To name a few.Β
To further refine my approach, I assessed various aspects of my life on a scale of 1-10. What did I currently rank? What did I need to hit that perfect 10? This evaluation process was like eating an elephant one bite at a time - a task both daunting yet achievable. And yes, I do feel sorry for the metaphorical elephant!
Consistency, though rewarding, is not without its challenges. Along the way, numerous thoughts and feelings might deter us from our path. Yet, with the right tools, like setting tasks in the morning and marking them in my calendar, I've managed to stay on track. This way, instead of chasing shiny objects, I'm fulfilling promises I made to myself. and creating new beliefs about myself...probably the most important part.Β
Let's face it, we all have moments of doubt. Yet, what truly empowers us is the realization that we have our own backs. It's one of the most liberating feelings to trust ourselves, to know that when we commit, we deliver. Sadly, many of us grapple with shame, thinking we've let others and ourselves down.
But here's the game-changer: Now is the moment to rewrite that narrative. Now is the time to truly have our own backs. Trust me, together, we've got this!
