Wisdom from the Abbey–Mother Hilda–Remember Me As Loving (Mother Hilda says that the movie “Woman in Gold”, the true story of a Jewish woman's attempts to reclaim a painting that was rightfully hers and taken from her family at the commencement of the Second World War. Her parents, aware of her imminent departure, asked only one thing, remember us, remember us as loving you. It was that memory that urged her on to her eventual success. At the Last Supper that was the request of Jesus, remember me, and I’m adding in the words, remember me as loving you. We do well to sit and ponder these words. It is the fact that Jesus’ love that's made a difference to countless lives. It's when we finally grasp that essential message, that our lives change and take on the colour and texture of the life of Jesus. Our life becomes a life of loving, with an emphasis on just that, loving, not being loved.)
