Transition Awareness Breathing
Education:Self-Improvement
What would it be like if the world was more mindful? Precisely what does that mean? We know the definition of mindfulness means to be aware of our senses, our thoughts, our feelings, and our emotions without harmful judgment. Research supports the positive effects of the practice of mindfulness (decreasing blood pressure, decreasing anxiety, strengthening the immune system, positive stimulation of thoughts and words, and building healthy relationships). Would the world be perfect? What would perfect mean? Who will transform the world into a mindfulness world? During these times, a lot of mindless activity is influenced by media, stimulated by drug stimuli, and antisocial activity. It seems the odds are against developing a “mindful” world.
Let’s use our imagination and envision our world from a higher point of view. It’s 600 feet from the point of view; we may understand the mindful world a little differently and not get cornered by negative influences. As an analogy, I’d like to stimulate some thoughts when builders build structures, when gardeners plant gardens, or when artists create their art portfolios, special tools are used to support that activity. If I wanted to hammer a nail in some wood, I could beat a nail with a brick; however, hammering the nail would be more efficient if I used the right tool. If we take a glimpse at the ancient instruments, we may place judgment on how old those tools look to us. We may even question the functionality of those tools. However, in ancient times, people felt that those tools were modern evolutions of instruments to get a job done. Through centuries, improvements have been made. Many tools and instruments look nothing like their ancestors. With that analogy, mindfulness, as we are using it today, is an ancient tool to achieve positivity as the goal. Maybe centuries from now, this world will transform into a mindful culture that dissolves the adverse effects of mindlessness. And so, during our episode today, I invite you to ask questions and reflect on your feelings and sensations as I guide stimulating thoughts and queries during this podcast. And keep in focus that the more we practice mindfulness, the better we get at the practice of mindfulness. Mindfulness outcomes will be contagious and transform the future into a world that is kind, compassionate, and without judgment.
