Husker247 Podcast: Recapping the first half of 2023
It might be bye week, but there’s no rest for Husker247 as Michael Bruntz and Mike Schaefer get together to talk about the first half of the season and to preview what’s to come for the Huskers.
Things start to pickup after a quick baseball postseason discussion with a conversation about Nebraska’s defensive line. The Huskers have really rebuilt its front in an offense and the two walk through individually some of the strong performances and some guys who are going to be assets in the future.
Then there’s talk of the linebackers and the strong work from Rob Dvoracek in short time to help the Huskers not just flourish, but also overcome the loss of Luke Reimer, while maximizing the skillsets of uniquely different players. They finish on defense with a conversation about the secondary, the soft coverage and what, if any, changes may occur there.
Then it’s time for the offense. Naturally conversation starts at quarterback where things remain relatively unclear beyond the fact it seems likely Heinrich Haarberg and Jeff Sims will both be needed moving forward.
Making things more difficult is Nebraska’s skill position players on offense and the lack of experience the Huskers now have after all the injury. The two run through what’s left, why those freshmen have to grow up in a hurry and who could use the next six weeks to help cement future jobs.
Finally they talk through the offensive line and the special teams, walking through some of the issues and some of the positives coming from both.
To finish there’s a little recruiting discussion as the Huskers are expected to hit the road on Thursday.
