Defiance From the creator of Farscape and Seaquest DSV, Defiance is the first original TV series to air on the SyFy Channel since Battlestar Galatica. An epic fantasy drama combining the scope of a sci-fi blockbuster with the intimacy of a small-town drama, Defiance is set in the near future, on a completely transformed planet Earth, inhabited by the survivors of a universal war.
Forced to co-habitate, the disparate group struggles to build a new society among the devastation. At the centre of this world is Lawman Jeb Nolan (Grant Bowler), who enlists the help of deputies and occasionally some civilians in the struggle to maintain law and order in the town and region.
Defiance stars Grant Bowler (True Blood), Jaime Murray (Hustle), Julie Benz (Dexter) and Stephanie Leonidas (Whitechapel), and to mark the DVD & Blu-ray release of Defiance (15th July 2013), I got the chance to talk to Stephanie, who plays Irathient warrior, and Nolan's adopted daughter, Irisa Nyira.
Stephanie was born in London, England and is well known for her work in within the UK TV industry with roles in Daddy’s Girl (2002), Soap opera Night & Day (2001) and Doc Martin (2004). More recently Stephanie has starred in Neil Gaiman and Dave Mckean’s Mirrormask (2005), as well as a BBC adaption of Dracula (2006) and popular crime thriller Whitechapel (2009-2012).
Defiance: Season 1 is released on and on 15 July 2013 from Universal Pictures (UK).
