What the commitments of Leroy Roker and Blake Woodby mean for the future of Ohio State’s secondary
Ohio State spent last weekend retooling its secondary for the future, but it also brings up a question of what that future will look like.
On this Tuesday episode of Buckeye Talk, Stephen Means and Andrew Gillis take a look at the commitments of 2024 safety Leroy Roker and 2025 cornerback Blake Woodby. The two additions may paint a of picture of how different the two parts of OSU’s secondary recruiting have gone.
Tim Walton has gotten off to a hot start on the recruiting trail, fueled mostly by an uptick in in-state talent. But landing Woodby proved his ability to go national with his efforts as the fifth top-100 recruit he’s landed despite this being only his second year on the staff.
Perry Eliano was brought in as a young coach with a potentially high upside both as a developer and a recruiter. The development has been there as his starting trio of Josh Proctor, Lathan Ransom and Sonny Styles have played at a high level this year. He even has freshman Malik Hartford ahead of schedule as a guy on pace to win a starting spot in 2024. But the recruiting trail hasn’t been as kind to him as he’s struck out on his top options in back-to-back classes
The future for the cornerback room is high. But should OSU be worried about its safety room?
