England's World Cup horror show - Jos Buttler's side embarrassed by South Africa in Mumbai | World Cup Daily #15
England's 2023 World Cup campaign went from bad to worse, with Jos Buttler's side suffering a humbling 229-run defeat to South Africa.
Having made three changes, won the toss and chosen to bowl, England conceded 399-7, with Heinrich Klaasen making a stunning century and Marco Jansen bashing a rapid 75*.
England struggled to cope with the searing, sweltering Mumbai heat, while Adil Rashid's illness and a potentially tournament-ending finger injury for Reece Topley only complicated matters further.
The defending champions never looked like getting close in the chase, eventually being bowled out for 170 in just 22 overs.
In today's other game, Sri Lanka beat Netherlands by five wickets to register their first victory of the tournament.
Ben Gardner, Katya Witney and Mark Butcher reflect on all of the above, as well as previewing India's clash against New Zealand tomorrow.
