Sunday Side Session: Defense shines, offense survives
Nebraska emerged victorious on Saturday against Northwestern when the Huskers were able to once again control an opponent through its defense.
KLIN Husker Hour host Matt McMaster joined Mike Schaefer for the Sunday Side Session to discuss the Huskers win over the Wildcats, where things sit for the program and what’s coming up with five games remaining and bowl eligibility a possibility.
Things start on defense where Schaefer makes McMaster pick between the Illinois and Northwestern performances, asks him who the third best player on the defense is and why the Huskers are so capable of getting performances like James Williams’ on Saturday, where a player steps off the bench and thrives despite having little opportunity before.
After a quick timeout the conversation resumes but this time on offense with a discussion about the importance of hitting the Malachi Coleman touchdown pass, why Nebraska’s offense continues to struggle regardless of opponent strength and what can and can’t be done to help things moving forward.
Additionally McMaster gives thoughts on why Emmett Johnson should continue to get the bulk of opportunities at running back after a good performance against Northwestern.
Finally predictions are made for the Purdue game next weekend. Can the Huskers keep Opportunity October going strong?
