NEW DETAILS on Deshaun Watson's shoulder injury + Twitter beefs & the Browns commitment to winning
We've reached the point of the Deshaun Watson shoulder injury saga where national NFL reporters are tweeting out that it is "a real injury."
The Cleveland Browns starting QB has only thrown 5 passes since Week 3, but the drama around his injured rotator cuff has been the talk of the town.
On Tuesday, Adam Schefter and Tom Pelissero reported that Watson has a strain in his subscapularis muscle, which causes pain and weakness in the rotator cuff. They also reported an injury like that takes 4-6 weeks to heal and despite no additional damage to the shoulder after the Indy game, his status for Sunday against Seattle is still TBD.
With all that knowledge, what would it say about the Browns front office (Andrew Berry & Kevin Stefanski) if the team didn't go out and attempt to upgrade their QB2 situation. PJ Walker may be 2-0 this year, but he's left a lot to be desired on the field. DTR looked lost in his lone start, granted it was under extremely weird circumstances.
The Cleveland Browns locker room opens for media availability today at 11:20 am, so we'll hear from some players on what they expect at the QB spot moving forward in the week.
Deshaun Watson's QB coach, Quincy Avery, and Fox Sports analyst, Brady Quinn, got into a giant Twitter beef on Tuesday night. Quinn accused Watson of not wanting to play because he's already gotten his money, to which Avery responded by telling Quinn he has no idea what he's talking about. The exchange ended in a bad joke from Quinn, who took it past any level it should have gone.
Corbin Smith of Locked On Seahawks also makes his UCSS debut to preview Sunday's highly anticipated matchup.
Plus... the Cleveland Cavaliers tip-off the 2023-2024 season tonight on the road in Brooklyn. Can Donovan Mitchell & Darius Garland lead this team to the promised land? Did Evan Mobley make the necessary upgrades in his game over the summer? Did the Cavs add enough shooting?
We'll break it all down in our Cavs season preview segment at 12:30.
