This morning we discuss the curious Talmudic teaching that Avraham interrupted his encounter with God to invite passersby in for hospitality. We explore a new understanding of this based on Maharal, explained through a moving story from Bailey Newman, that makes this a practical lesson in the lives of each of us, and greatly expands our understanding of prayer. Michael Whitman is the senior rabbi of ADATH Congregation in Hampstead, Quebec, and an adjunct professor at McGill University Faculty of Law. ADATH is a modern orthodox synagogue community in suburban Montreal, providing Judaism for the next generation.
