Making 'Desperation Road' in 16 days starring Mel Gibson and Garret Hedlund with director and writer Nadine Crocker
On this weeks episode we chat to writer and director Nadine Crocker about her latest feature film Desperation Road starring Academy Award Winner Mel Gibson (Braveheart), Garrett Hedlund (TRON: Legacy), and Willa Fitzgerald (Scream: The TV Series) and how she shot the movie in 16 days!
Nadine talks with Dom Lenoir about her first movie 'Continue', how she wore all the hats, raised the money, bought on Uber producer Cassian Elwes, went from acting to directing and how it felt like a film school.
She also dives into how she made her second written and directed feature Desperation Road, how she got her high profile cast attached and getting the movies made.
We also talk about:
Real life trauma, creating thread and working on the script.
Casting, depth and pitching to Mel Gibson.
Staying present and why you need to know your shit.
Why a director is only as good as their collaborators.
Being over prepared, knowing answers and why she doesn't show her 'look-book' of images and ideas to her crew before they have pitched.
And Nadine give you some amazing advice on being a filmmaker.
