This morning we contrast two narratives of hospitality and kindness: from Sarah and Avraham, and from their nephew Lot. It is the former's love of helping that we are to emulate, not the latter's being burdened to help. We share two stories to demonstrate this quality - one from Jerusalem over forty years ago, and one incredible incident from yesterday. Michael Whitman is the senior rabbi of ADATH Congregation in Hampstead, Quebec, and an adjunct professor at McGill University Faculty of Law. ADATH is a modern orthodox synagogue community in suburban Montreal, providing Judaism for the next generation.
