Season 4 Podcast 171, A New Voice of Freedom, Argument for the Existence of God, Episode 12, “The Science of Spiritual Law.”
Creationists concern themselves with both spiritual law and temporal law. That should not concern the pursuit of science. A creationist can be both a scientist studying temporal law and a creationist studying spiritual law and the supernatural. The two can be easily separated and just as easily combined. Each has its own unified theory, each a subset of the overall theory. Even miracles obey law. There are no exceptions. Ironically it is the theory of evolution, which attributes the origin of life to luck and the laws of nature to chance, accident, coincidence, or serendipity of circumstances, that preaches miracles without law, which violates the laws of physics and the laws of God. All miracles are governed by law. We may increase our miracles by increasing our obedience to law. No miracle can occur without law. We often call a miracle of God a miracle only because we don’t know how God did it. How did Christ walk on water? How did he calm the storm? Because we don’t know the laws, we must exercise faith in God. Faith always precedes the miracle.
Temporal law is based on the scientific method through natural observation. The approach of science to temporal law is inductive. The approach of creationists to spiritual law is deductive. Observation of nature provides the basic premises of temporal law. Revelation through prophets provides the basic premises of spiritual law. However, once the premises are established, the forms of verification are the same. The scientific method applies to both temporal law and spiritual law. The results for both temporal law and spiritual law can be predicted, verified, and repeated. Even the blessings of God are predicated on law as the Holy scriptures amply testify.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. (Galatians 5:22 - 23)
That can be written as a hypothetical syllogism. Let’s call it the Law of Love:
If you have the Spirit of God within, then you will feel love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance.
The clause “against such there is no law” can be rewritten, “There is no law against the law of love.
In a way scientists work backward; people of faith work forward. For example, a scientist must observe the patterns and work backwards to discover the law. It is an inductive process. He looks for repetition of patterns, and when evidence, sufficient and various, is gathered, he makes a prediction. People of faith listen to the prophet’s voice and apply the commandments of God in faith and look forward to the effect or “fruits of the Spirit” as listed above. That is deductive, the major premise accepted on faith.
The following is an illustration.
Malachi 3
8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.
9 Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.
10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts.
12 And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the Lord of hosts.
