Melanie Chavez is a First Gen Latina, first time homebuyer and LA native. Her story is rooted in moving away from home to defy her family's expectations of womanhood and what that means as a young Latina. In 2017, despite lack of support from my family, she packed up her car and moved to Seattle with nothing but a dream to live in the Emerald City and to help others like herself. She knew two people and had ZERO job leads.
She proceeded to spend 3+ years at Year Up, became a homeowner, and is now a Talent Sourcer at HighSpot, with a mission to open doors and opportunities for underrepresented talent and marginalized communities. In this episode, you hear all the tea in between and more.
