Donato Balencia was an Italian serial killer who killed 17 people on the Italian Riviera from October 1997 to April 1998. He had a troubled childhood and a history of psychiatric issues. Balencia used a 38 special revolver loaded with wad cutter ammunition in his killings. He targeted sex workers, jewelers, and money changers. He was eventually caught and sentenced to life imprisonment. Balencia died of COVID-19 in December 2020.
