#15: Myths and the Risks of Home Birth with Emily Stanwyck
This week we have Emily Stanwyck, a mom, a birth doula, and birth educator on to discuss the myths and the risks of home birth in America! Emily has been a birth doula since 2014 and helps women understand their rights in pregnancy, labor, and as a new parent. She gave birth to both of her children at home. She advocates for true informed consent in maternity care and argues that this does not really exist in the western medical model of obstetric care in America.
We get into the financial aspects of birth and how greatly this effects access to excellent care for most Americans and how Crowd Health's model serves women who choose options outside of the traditional model of maternity care.
Emily teaches live birth education classes throughout the year and a live doula training course twice a year; you can check those out here: https://www.emilystanwyck.com/work-with-me and learn more from her on her instagram page @emilystanwyck.
