It’s been about a year since my friend and former guest Winnie Awa, founder of Carra, an AI-led personalised hair advice platform, said that we really wanted to start a series of events.
Back then I always knew it would be called Hair Talks – because, well, our hair literally talks – and I think as women of colour in particular, how we style or dress our hair speaks volumes but is not always interpreted correctly.
I'm so excited to say that our very first event is happening this Monday and that, moving forward, you can expect HAIR TALKS to be an ongoing series of conversations around the complexity of textured hair. So, in this short episode I'm sharing a little bit more about why it started, and where we see it going.
There's still time to book yourself a free ticket if you live in London - and grab a gorgeous goodie bag featuring goodies from Camille Rose, Pacifica, Liha Beauty and more! Winnie and I want Hair Talks to feel like your event – it only works if you show up and share. If you can’t make it on the night, feel free to reach out to me on social media @beautymepodcast on Instagram and X formerly known as Twitter, and for the Spotify listeners I’ll create a poll for you to get involved with.
That’s all for this week. Thank you so much for listening during these uncertain times; your support means the world. If you enjoyed this episode, a review or rating wherever you listen would be amazing. I’ll see you next time.
