On this episode of the Character Outs podcast, I have a raw and honest conversation with my husband.
I feel like when we are raised in a toxic home, and especially, by a narcissistic mother, we have learned so many toxic ways that we look at life and deal with situations.
Good news is, we have control over these responses. And unlike our narcissistic mothers, the ability to reflect and grow. Who wants to stay stuck in the toxic that we came from, certainly not me.
Our marriage has had its ups and downs and while it does take two to tango, I certainly brought some deep programmed responses that were hindering my personal growth, as well as my relationship with my husband.
My husband will share some ways in which he has learned to navigate and deal with my trauma responses because let's face it....I was simply transposing my pain onto him.
All that to say, we are desperate to be nothing like our toxic families or our narcissistic mothers, and sometimes, it takes those that we love to help us rewire our brains and our hearts. And for me, teach me that not everyone who says they love you...leaves.
In case no one has told you lately, it's not you, never has been and you are not alone.
