This evening we discuss the huge emphasis in Torah narratives on the topic of siblings, providing insights by Rabbi David Wolpe, and Adam Grant on the importance of wobbly families. We investigate the tragic rape of Dinah, and analyze how this passage became the primary source for Jewish military ethics in protecting enemy civilians, drawing on the writing of Asa Kasher. Michael Whitman is the senior rabbi of ADATH Congregation in Hampstead, Quebec, and an adjunct professor at McGill University Faculty of Law. ADATH is a modern orthodox synagogue community in suburban Montreal, providing Judaism for the next generation.
