USC Triple-Double: Assessing Trojans' sluggish 5-3 start, what Bronny James return will mean
The USC Triple-Double Podcast -- the first basketball-only podcast to be a part of the Peristyle Podcast family of shows -- returns with co-hosts Shotgun Spratling and Connor Morrissette (aka Mr. Triple Double) breaking down the most recent action from the USC men's and women's basketball teams as well as taking a deep dive assessment of the men's team after the Trojans fell to 5-3 on the season.
The undefeated Women of Troy remain ranked No. 6 this week after obliterating another mid-major opponent. The men's team is currently on an opposite trajectory having lost two of its last three games, including a lackluster performance in a marquee non-conference matchup against No. 11 Gonzaga in Las Vegas. The Trojans lost by 13 points despite shooting 47 percent and having only 10 turnovers. It wasn't enough to overcome a 15-2 deficit to open the game and a defensive effort that saw the Bulldogs shoot 52.3 percent.
Shotgun and Connor break down both games from last week before looking at where the Trojan squads stand both record and stat wise through the first month or so of the season. The podcasting duo then turns things over to the fans, allowing them to ask questions about the Trojans and what seems to be holding the men's team back, including what head coach Andy Enfield had to say about the team's deficiencies in an exclusive interview with USCFootball.com.
