Episode 92. Advent 2: The Theology of O Holy Night
Peace can seem hard to find during the Christmas season when our eyes and schedules are filled with the bustle of the season. However, when we focus on who Christ is, we can not only find peace, but extend it to others.
In this podcast, we take a look at the theology found within the carol O Holy Night. This carol is believed to have been written from the perspective of someone present at the manger. We hear the relief at the long awaited arrival of the Savior and how His coming affirms our worth as His children. We then see how Christ’s coming will led to the breaking of sin’s chains through His life and death on the cross. In Him there is no slave or master, but only brothers and sisters in Christ. Though we won’t see true peace on this earth till after Christ’s return, the believer can take comfort knowing that peace is coming. Till then we can nurture peace in our homes by building our relationship with Christ, nurturing Christ centered conversations, and making peace (so much as we are able) with those around us. Lastly, a fun craft is offered to help little ones focus on faith this advent season.
