This morning, Part 2, we see how Yosef learned the lesson God taught Yaakov in last week's Parsha, VaYeishev. Based on the writing of Bailey Newman, we explore Yosef's traumas, not as a rebuke from God, but as a lesson in what to expect from life. Yosef finally sees how all the injustices he has suffered put him in the unique position at the very moment the opportunity was created to fulfill his mission in life - to save Egypt, and to save his family. Michael Whitman is the senior rabbi of ADATH Congregation in Hampstead, Quebec, and an adjunct professor at McGill University Faculty of Law. ADATH is a modern orthodox synagogue community in suburban Montreal, providing Judaism for the next generation.
