Vince Clarke on Ambient Music, Blade Runner, and Erasure’s Next LP
Erasure’s Vince Clarke joins Kyle Meredith to talk Songs of Silence, his very first solo album that finds the Erasure (and Depeche Mode and Yaz) legend pointing towards drone and ambient music. The synth-pop artist tells us how the record, almost an accident, came to be, taking inspiration from Blade Runner 2049, and why ambient music is having a real moment right now. Clarke goes on to discuss how his videos give the songs another dimension, adapting an old union folk song, a desire to work with Phillip Glass, and where they are with the next Erasure album.
