The Holiday Special & A World Junior Preview with Steven Ellis
Happy Holidays hockey fans! As you sit around the house during the holiday break, enjoy a fresh episode of The DFO Rundown as Jason and Frank put on their best holiday outfits and recorded a new episode of the pod.
Of course, they got off topic in a hurry as Gregor told stories from his days on the farm and Frank shared his favourite parts of Christmas morning.
They did eventually get to some hockey talk as they welcomed Daily Faceoff prospect analyst Steven Ellis to the show to get them set for the World Juniors. Steven told us about who he has as his gold medal favourite, which big dog is most likely to have a disappointing tournament, and which prospects he’ll be keeping an eye on this year.
There isn’t a lot of hype around Team Canada but Steven says, they’re better than some people think. He explained why they might not be as far behind the likes of Sweden and Team USA heading into this tournament. As usual, there are questions about their goaltending.
To wrap up the pod, Tyler swung by with a Christmas-themed top-five list for the guys to discuss.
14:45 - World Junior Preview
16:15 - Sweden’s struggles
19:15 - Are the Americans the favourites?
34:15 - How good is Team Canada?
39:30 - Gold medal pick
