Episode 96: 2023 Reflection and Recap with Sarah Schalow
It is hard to believe that this episode of The Stories Collective is the last one being released in 2023. But don't worry, we'll be back next Wednesday, starting a series involving God's incredible faithfulness to kick off 2024! We invite you to settle in as our host Sarah catches you up on all that the Lord has done in 2023. Think of this episode as a one-on-one coffee meeting. Sarah reflects on how the podcast has evolved since it launched in March 2022. It is hard to believe we are approaching almost 100 stories shared! At the top of this year, we started off with an incredible testimony from our friend Rich Holland. At the time we had no idea we'd be launching a podcast with him as one of the hosts in the fall of 2023 (Resident Strangers returns on January 2nd with brand new episodes)! Rich's story majorly the highlighted the importance of being involved in the church and community. Sarah points out that we did not plan for that to be a continuous theme but that it was one that was brought out in stories over and over again throughout this whole year. Is it possible that God really wanted us to hone in on this idea? That we're called to be in Christ-centered community? Thinking through the stories shared this year we are blown away by all that was shared. This podcast featured stories on major health issues, losing a child, friendship, motherhood, abortion recovery, freedom from sin, mental health and suicide, racial issues, how to age well, single parenting, foster-care, trusting in God’s timing, navigating the LGBTQ+ lifestyle, the transformation experienced through the Gospel and so much more. Sarah shares some highlights from her year but also gets personal about what life was like behind the scenes. The Lord used the stories shared on this podcast not just for the listeners but to encourage Sarah's own heart and soul. Ultimately, Sarah urges us to take hold of the continuous theme that was shared - we desperately need community and when we lean into one that is centered on Christ it is lifechanging.
