Two months ago, October 10, 2014, Susan Mellen walked out of a Torrance, California courtroom after serving 17 years in prison for a murder she did not commit. Susan was convicted of the 1998 brutal murder of her former boyfriend based on the words of a woman who had a reputation for dishonesty. Enter Attorney Deirdre O’Connor, founder of Innocence Matters, who found substantial evidence to discredit the witness and locate one of the three original suspects who then confessed and exonerated Susan.
