For many pastors in the modern world, it has been a very common model to approach pastoral ministry as a full-time professional vocation. Under this traditional model pastors pursue one or more degrees from a Bible college and/or seminary and then “go to work” as a full-time employee of a local church. Although this model is not necessarily a “wrong” approach to ministry, we believe it has created some unintended consequences that are not the best for pastors, their families, and the churches they lead. One of those consequences is the very real ceiling placed upon a pastor’s earning potential inside the church. And while we understand that no pastor truly pursues ministry for “the money,” all too often the ceiling is very low on what churches are either able or willing to pay their pastors. In this episode, Jon talks about how the EntrePastor model offers a much healthier way for pastors to be funded than simply relying on the financial provision of traditional pastoral ministry.
