Today's reading for January 10th is Job, chapters 24 through 28. Some questions to ponder as you read through Job. These chapters in particular bring up a few things that interest me.Verse 13 of chapter 24 says, the wicked are those who rebel against the light. What does that mean to rebel against the light? Another thing that's very interesting to me is the subject of Sheol, or Sheol.David Doty (01:28.798)In Christianity today we talk about hell. Heaven or hell? It's like those are the only two places that exist in the after world.is Shoal hell? And if so, what is Abaddon or Abaddon? That's in chapter 26 verse 6.David Doty (01:53.994)I'd love to have a Hebrew scholar come on, somebody who really understands the Jewish history and theology. If you know somebody like this, would you put us in touch maybe? What are these different places? When Jesus told the story of the rich man and Lazarus and how they died and Lazarus went to the bosom of Abraham.The rich man went to his place and there was this chasm separating, but they were able to speak to each other. Was that just a parable? Or were they literally able to see each other, speak to each other in this place? Did one of those places or both of those places disappear after Jesus finished his work on the cross? Or are they still there?We read in the story of Saul, how he brought up the spirit of Samson. He went to the witch, the medium, who summoned the soul of the dead prophet.David Doty (03:09.954)A lot of Christians today talk about familiar spirits. What are these things? Just curious. Any of you guys have any special knowledge on that? I would love to hear your thoughts because I just don't have that one figured out.David Doty (03:28.222)In chapter 27, Job says, as long as my breath is still in me and the breath from God remains in my nostrils, my lips will not speak unjustly and my tongue will not utter deceit, I will never affirm that you are right. I will maintain my integrity until I die. I will cling to my righteousness and never let it go. My conscience will not accuse me as long as I live.Amen, Job. May I also.David Doty (04:01.254)live a life that is of a clear conscience.And when I do make a mistake, when I do not keep my word, when I do something that I know to be wrong, or when I find out afterward that I did something wrong that hurt somebody, I pray that I would be humble and quick to repent. And if any of you, my friends, have ever heard me say anything wrong,I'm truly sorry.If I've ever said anything right that has offended you, I'm sorry about that too, but for a very different reason.
