Becky's lifeless body was discovered in the confines of her own bedroom. The mother and nurse had tragically suffered from a total of fourteen gunshot wounds, inflicted at a relatively close distance. Behind the bedroom door, her cell phone was found, indicating that Becky had made a desperate attempt to contact emergency services at precisely 1:11 am. However, it seemed that her assailant had forcefully knocked the phone from her grasp, preventing her from seeking help.
The Postle family, overwhelmed with shock and devastation, had already harbored suspicions towards Tim, Becky's boyfriend. Consequently, he was interrogated that very night and willingly provided a DNA sample for analysis. In his statement, Becky's boyfriend asserted that he had last seen her on the 21st of February.
During the initial stages of the investigation, numerous significant pieces of evidence were uncovered. These included a distinct footprint, fragments of plastic, and a total of eight spent shell casings from a 9mm firearm. Intriguingly, it appeared that the perpetrator had gained entry into the house by utilizing a crowbar on one of the windows in the boys' room. This method of entry required the intruder to pass by two other windows, including Becky's bedroom window, before reaching the children's window.
