Ok, it recording? Hello there, listener and everyone else here. I’m Rio. You, uh, know my, knew my daddy. You probably know me by reputation. My great grand daddy built this church. My grand daddy took over for him and then my daddy. I ain’t much of a preacher. I’ll hold the post till we get one, but my daddy was the last Williams to be the preacher here. These mountains, they’re a story of things being taken. I mean, we took this land first, right? Now don’t get riled up, you know I’m right. Then after that folks came to take the resources. For a lot of places it was coal, here it was marble and copper. When ran out, they took the land itself. Places like Fere & Howell and Penderan carving wounds into the side of the mountain that scab over into luxury resorts and high priced getaway cabins. In my life I’ve seen the mountains go form something beautiful to something sick. A story of taking.
