10@9 John Madden's Approach to Mitzvot - January 14, 2024

This morning we discuss the curious role of animals in our Torah portion (Bo), specifically the honour paid to dogs and to donkeys, with an important insight from Rabbi Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld on why donkeys are more honoured than dogs. We reflect this attitude in a message from the late John Madden. He was talking about football (of course), but his words should inspire every one of us in our Jewish lives. Michael Whitman is the senior rabbi of ADATH Congregation in Hampstead, Quebec, and an adjunct professor at McGill University Faculty of Law. ADATH is a modern orthodox synagogue community in suburban Montreal, providing Judaism for the next generation.
