One of my favorite verses challenges us not to be conformed to this world but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds…

When I think about MLK and the many heroes of the civil rights era, we see folk refused to accept the status quo. 

We see folks who not only embraced new ways of thinking but also had the courage and discipline to non-violently pursue them often at great personal costs to themselves and their families. 

May we all learn to be disciplined nonconformists in pursuit of justice, peace, and unity.
