Michael Versteeg on Creating Saddles 100, Why It’s Different, and His Personal Background
Michael Versteeg is an Arizona legend in the world of ultrarunning. Winning the inaugural year of Cocodona, once running the FKT for the Arizona Trail, nabbing multiple wins and podiums, and being known as one of the most elusive characters of ultrarunning, Versteeg is a fan favorite.
So, when he announced he was putting on the Saddles 100 mile race last year in Prescott, AZ, the running community was immediately interested.
And in this episode, Michael shares all about the race, including why he started it, what makes it so unique, and the experience he is looking to create in trail running.
We also dive into a bit of Michael’s personal background and how he got into the sport of ultrarunning, which was awesome to dive into.
This episode was recorded during the shoot for an upcoming documentary of the Saddles 100 which will be released in the future. This is the full interview from that documentary.
Huge thank you to Michael for coming on the show!
