Yitro - February 1, 2024

This evening we discuss how Yitro expanded on the role of his son-in-law Moshe, and demonstrate this addition with a great story about Rabbi Herschel Schachter on how to answer a question with sensitivity (and humour). We examine the physical appearance of the Luchot (stones on which were engraved the Ten Commandments), and a lesson from the font size. And we explain, though a remarkable story from Rabbi Meilech Biderman, the reward for honouring our parents. Michael Whitman is the senior rabbi of ADATH Congregation in Hampstead, Quebec, and an adjunct professor at McGill University Faculty of Law.
