22. Bríd Rodgers: 1500th Anniversary Of St. Brigid
Episode 22 brings you a conversation wit Bríd Rodgers which was recorded on 1st February 2024: the 1500th anniversary of Saint Brigid. Brid Rodgers is a retired politician of John Hume’s Social Democratic and Labour Party and was the Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development
Brid was one of those key players back in the day of the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960's. She helped deliver the Good Friday Agreement. That agreement was quite instrumental in ending the 30 year conflict on our island known as The Troubles.
We interviewed Brid at length as a way of marking the 25th anniversary of that peace deal. It’s worth checking out. It’s available in Episodes 6 and 7.
With it being such a monumental week for Northern Ireland we thought it would be a good idea to check in on Brid’s thoughts regarding the potential restoration of power after a two year collapse of government. As ever with Bríd she's not shy about voicing her opinions and insights.
