The topic this week is about resources for first responders for “protecting and healing their minds and hearts”.
Denise speaks with Dan Willis who was a police officer for the past 25 years. He has served as homicide detective, SWAT commander, and instructor for the San Diego Public Safety Institute, the county’s police academy, where he provided emotional-survival training.
Dan’s passion is to help first responders to get ahead of bad decisions and bad behavior before it can happen by giving support and tools to use. His book “Bulletproof Spirit: The First Responder’s Essential Resource for Protecting and Healing Mind and Heart lays out a plan to help first responders to maintain emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual fitness in order to take care of themselves, their loved ones, and the people they serve.
If you are a loved one of an addict, alcoholic, or someone affected by a mental disorder, you might just be a first responder in your own world.
