Addicted to Addicts: Survival 101 – A Second Chance
Doesn’t everyone deserve a second chance? A lot of us wouldn’t know how to go about getting one and so is the case with many addicts. The stigma of addiction and alcoholism sometimes makes it seem impossible to “regroup” and enter, again, into the work and social world. Denise’s guest today is Scott Silverman, a gentleman who has made his life’s work a passion for helping those who need it most to help themselves. Scott is a community activist and local businessman in San Diego County who, through his own experiences, understands what it can take to shed some of that stigma to move forward. You can read about Scott and his projects on his website. He is the founder of Second Chance in San Diego County which, in its 20 years of activity, has helped thousands of people to regain their self esteem, composure, and ability to become productive members of the community and their families. Scott offers on this week’s show, a chance for a free ten minute phone call to talk about whatever questions you might have after listening to this interview. His cell phone number is (619)993-2738. He says to feel free to use it! Check out Scott’s book: “Tell Me No. I Dare You!” for more inspiration.
