Addicted to Addicts: Survival 101 – Does wealth and privilege play a part in addiction? Or does it matter?
Today’s guest is a man who grew up with much wealth (stuff and money) but little wealth ( emotional attachment, perceived love, connection) as often happens when there is alcoholism in the family. Albert Flynn DeSilver is an internationally published poet, writer, speaker/trainer, publisher and writing coach. He served as Marin County’s first Poet Laureate from 2008-2010. His work has appeared in more than 100 literary journals worldwide.
Many people ask Denise how did her son find recovery. Does he know why he stopped using? She doesn’t know the answer to this and she’s not sure her son has a definitive answer to this. Mr. DeSilver answers this from his experience.
The interview this week will cover Mr. DeSilver’s growing up experience as well as how his recovery came about. He offers some tools to use and share with loved ones who might be struggling with addiction.
