You'll be free or die!
Harriet Tubman
When a situation is unacceptable, we have to stop accepting it. Harriet Tubman reached that place with respect to slavery in general and her enslavement in particular.
After escaping to freedom she made something like 18 more trips back to help others escape to freedom. She became known as Moses and is best known “conductor” of the Underground Railroad. She never lost a single “passenger”.
Every trip was dangerous for her. There was a huge bounty on her head. She knew the way to freedom. She knew all the resources available to help her passengers reach it. Nevertheless, every trip carried the very real possibilities of capture, torture and death.
When you embarked with her, there was no turning back. Freedom or death were the options. Continued enslavement was not. Sometimes we need to have the same resolve. Peace be with you.
